Terms of Use
For Jewel Case Research, the MiAI Law agent for Microsoft 365 Copilot and Teams · Last updated: 23 July 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Jewel Case Research (the "Agent"), an AI-assisted legal-research assistant that runs as a Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft Teams agent, provided by MiAI Law Pty Ltd ("MiAI Law", "we", "us", or "our"). By installing, linking your account to, or using the Agent, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Agent.
1. Acceptance and Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a binding contract to use the Agent. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your MiAI Law account and for all activity that occurs under your linked account.
2. Description of the Service
Jewel Case Research lets you ask legal questions in Microsoft Teams and returns AI-generated research reports, with citations, covering Australian jurisdictions (Commonwealth, NSW, VIC, QLD, WA, SA, TAS, ACT, and NT). It is a legal research aid only. It does not provide legal advice and is not a law firm.
3. Account Linking, Credits, and Billing
Jewel Case Research requires a linked, funded MiAI Law account. You link your Microsoft identity to your MiAI Law account once, using a one-time code; thereafter your usage is billed to that MiAI Law account.
Use of the Agent consumes MiAI Law account credits. A research query costs 35 credits, and follow-up questions are also charged. Credits and subscriptions are purchased separately on MiAI Law's own platform at app.miai.law, with payments processed by Stripe. A separate, active and funded MiAI Law subscription or credit balance is therefore required to use the Agent (an additional purchase is required). Credit pricing may change; current pricing is shown on the MiAI Law platform.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Agent for any unlawful, infringing, defamatory, or fraudulent purpose.
- Submit content you do not have the right to process or disclose.
- Violate the privacy or intellectual-property rights of others.
- Harm, impair, disrupt, or place undue load on the Agent or its infrastructure, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to it.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, probe, scrape, or otherwise attempt to discover or derive the source code, algorithms, underlying structure, data, models, or business logic of the service.
- Resell, sublicense, or share access to the Agent outside the terms of your MiAI Law account.
5. AI Output Disclaimer (Not Legal Advice)
6. Your Content
You retain all rights to the questions and content you submit to the Agent ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited licence to process Your Content solely to provide the Agent's features to you, as described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for ensuring you have the necessary rights and permissions to submit Your Content.
7. Intellectual Property
All present and future rights in the Agent and the software used in our service, including copyright, trademarks, designs, patents, and artificial intelligence (including generative artificial intelligence), are and shall remain the property of MiAI Law Pty Ltd. These Terms do not grant you any rights in our intellectual property except for the limited licence to use the Agent described above.
8. Third-Party Services
The Agent operates within Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams and relies on third-party providers, including Microsoft (Teams, Microsoft 365, Bot Framework, and Entra identity), cloud hosting (Microsoft Azure), AI and large language model providers, and the payment provider (Stripe). Your use of Microsoft services is governed by Microsoft's own terms. We are not responsible for third-party services outside our control.
9. Disclaimers
The Agent is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Agent will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its output will meet your requirements or be legally correct.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, MiAI Law will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the Agent or reliance on AI-generated output. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Agent will not exceed the total fees paid by you for use of the Agent in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless MiAI Law Pty Ltd, and our officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates, from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses arising out of or related to your use of the Agent or your breach of these Terms.
12. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Agent at any time if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the service. You may stop using the Agent at any time by removing it or unlinking your account. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that jurisdiction.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Agent after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
